![]() Austin Ukulele Society (AUS) continues to impress me. This weekend AUS arranged for a visit from the Dallas uke group, and together, we saw the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain last night on the UT campus. We got together for a joint Dallas-Austin uke group meeting this morning, and then went to Rattlers Inn this evening to watch some really great uke performers, including The Love Leighs (pictured here), Kathey and the Kilowatts, and of course, the fearless leader of the AUS, Bob Guz. I'm loving the uke scene!

Had a great time performing with Kaye Reznick and Paul Teneyuque last night at B.B. Rover's open mic. We got together earlier that day to practice a few tunes and work out who should do what and when.
I opened with a few solo songs, and then Paul and I did a couple of songs together with Paul on bass. We yeilded the stage to Kaye for a few songs, and then we joined her for a few songs as a trio. Kaye and Paul did a couple of songs together, and we wrapped up with Paul playing some of his songs solo. Along the way, Joseph (another BBR open mic host) entertained us with his unique mix of humor and music, and Kaye's son also performed a few for us as well. It was a perfect ending to a busy four days of music for me. The only "fly in the ointment" came after I got back home and somehow hurt my lower back while unloading my 12-string from the car. Got a lot of music to hear and play in the next few days. Thursday is my first meeting with the Austin Ukuelel Society. Friday, I'm going back to Twin Creeks Hall for Billy Callery's CD launch party. On Saturday, I'm playing with David and Richard as Thickety Creek at a private event in Waco. Sunday, it's my turn to host open mic night at B.B. Rovers.
Last night was my first trip ever to the Twin Creeks Hall, a genuine roadside honky-tonk from the good ol' days when Volente Road was just Ranch Road 2769 and the idea of building a subdivision out there would have been considered insane.
Performed with Paul Teneyuque, and had a great time. Pablo played bass while I stuck to my 12-string. We also got to meet Billy Callery, a great Texas songwriter who actually penned a couple of tunes for Wille Nelson and Jerry Jeff Walker back in the day. Went to Hanovers Draught Haus in Pflugerville last night to watch Paul Teneyuque play. He asked me to "open" for his second set, which I gladly did. Just as I was finishing up, David Patrick Dunn walked through the door, so Paul graciously asked him to do a couple of songs, too. We had a lot of fun, and Paul suggested we get together Sunday at place in Cedar Park, somewhere on the road to Vole
