I was substitute host at Rover's open mic on June 26, and except for two Kaye Pasa rehearsals later that week, I didn't play anywhere. Did manage to go see CLYDE at the Whip In on June 30. Basically, June went out with a whimper.

This marked my third consecutive year playing with the Austin Ukulele Ensemble at the Keep Austin Weird Festival's 5K Fun Run. The organizers changed the route this year, moving the starting line to a spot under the southbound MoPac bridge. We performed under the northbound MoPac bridge, which helped keep our ukes dry during the intermittent showers. Hot and muggy, but still a lot of fun.
Another fun night at B.B. Rover's Cafe & Pub with the Kaye Pasa Trio (L-R: me, Kaye Reznick, Paul Teneyuque).
Kaye Pasa (Paul, Kaye, and myself) performed at The Legacy at its Friday happy hour. Always a great crowd. Very attentive, too.
On Saturday, I saw David True and his True-badors performer at a benefit for his friend Linda. He called me on stage to blow some blues harp for a song, too. Sunday (last night) was my regular gig hosting the open mic night at B.B. Rover's Cafe & Pub. Between a basketball championship game, Father's Day, and the beginning of Ramadan, it was a smallish crowd. Eight acts in all. Because of the lengthy list of performers, I (graciously) limited myself to one song tonight: "Tryin' to be a Hippie." As I told a friend in an email, I was taken aback by the huge response it got. Good times.
I got a bit overheated during the afternoon outdoor gig in Georgetown, and I pretty much felt like shit the rest of the day. I did manage to rally enough to go see the final Dodge the Bullet show at Iron Cactus. Also got to give the DVD of their TV debut to Lynette & Lefty.
It was a hot, humid day in Georgetown when Kaye Pasa played. I think we sounded good, but I had a rough time trying to connect with an audience of passers-by. I left feeling dehydrated.
I managed to record the show using my antiquated VCR, and then I burned a DVD for Lynette and Lefty.
A fun night, as always. Helen and I performed a duet of sorts with my only line being the bass part singing, "Under the boardwalk."
Kaye Pasa performed tonight at B.B. Rover's Cafe & Pub, our third time to play there. I always like playing there; it's where I met Paul and Kaye (and most of the Austin area musicians I know).
