As always, we LOVED the Sparrow with its great stage, sound system, and owner/managers. First time we ever asked for a cover at a show, and happily, people paid to see us.
I returned to the Black Sparrow Music Parlor in Taylor, Texas, to perform with the Kaye Pasa Trio. I also stacked the deck with a dozen or so friends and family, many of whom were visiting for Cousins Weekend at my house.

The Kaye Pasa Trio played in downtown Austin last night; however, neither we nor the P.F. Chang's manager who booked us remembered that it was the Republic of Texas (RoT) Motorcycle Rally Day. Aside from the tailpipe cacophony of a zillion unmufflered Harley drowning us out periodically, we also had to battle a loud norteño band on a nearby balcony.
My favorite fan, Sue Carlson snapped this pic of me playing with The Kaye Pasa Trio at P.F. Chang's Restaurant in downtown Austin. Not only does the photo not show Kaye and Paul, it also excludes the empty seats to which we played on the 100-degree patio. All in all, kinda rough night. Impromptu performance of the trio at Robert Salas' show at The Black Sparrow in Taylor, TX. Kaye didn't have her guitar or cabasas, so our friend Carlos Rumbaut sat in on the congas.
I played with the trio at Grumpy's Saloon in Lakeway (formerly The Grumpy Grouper) for an open mic/audition. Not sure if anything will come of it, but we had fun nonetheless.
Despite missing not one, but two rehearsals, I performed with the Austin Ukulele Society Ensemble at Buckner Villa tonight. I always enjoy playing with my fellow four-stringers; it's a nice break from the 12-string. Much lighter, too.
