Ending a record three straight days of paying gigs, I opened for David True and company at his house concert in Austin. Great night. Lots of good music. Happy 47th, David.

I always enjoy performing for the good folks at Watercrest, but this time was especially good. It was the middle gig of a rare three-in-a-row of paying performances. I love getting paid to play.
Performed with Paul Teneyuque at The Legacy's happy hour today. Great audience. Thanks to Excitement Director Brenna Campbell for the pics.
The last couple of times I've gone to B.B. Rover's open mic on a night that I wasn't supposed to host, I ended up hosting anyway because the regularly scheduled host failed to show. This has made me a little hesitant to go there on my off Sundays.
Tonight, however, I'm glad I went. It was a small crowd, but a good evening. I played the Devil for Kaye's "Sinner's Song," which is always fun. I also played a few of my rarely heard serious and/or sad songs, but I ended my set with "Hot Pepper Tamale." Sold my Breedlove six-string today for $400. I knew the guy would try to talk me down on my price, but I came prepared with a great counter-offer. My asking price included the custom Breedlove soft-sided case. I told the prospective buyer, I'd take his $375 if he'd let me keep the soft-sided case and give him a no-frills hard case instead (I explained that my 12er just fit in the soft-sided case, too).
Originally, I planned to use the money from this sale to finance a new classical guitar, but now it goes to the help-pay-for-the-Bose-PA fund. Sue and Brad hosted Cousins Weekend 6 at The Villa in Cypress, TX. This year include returning honorary cousin Kati DeHaven and rookie honorary cousin Lee Ann Carter.
Weekend highlights included: eating everything in sight; laughing more than the law allows; visiting with and performing for everyone; deciding as a group that growth sounds like a caveman's chant ("Growth, growth, growth!"); and playing Ninja Pool Volleyball. Over 140 people attended the Austin Ukulele Society (AUS) monthly meeting. We played the Grateful Dead song, "Ripple in Still Water." Lotsa fun.
I switched hosting duties this month with The Better Halves, who will host my usual 3rd Sunday slot next week. I hope Jimmy Joe and Chrissie get as good a crowd.
Regulars included Overdue Bill (first time without Pat), Kaye Reznick, Paul Teneyuque, and Yovi. Special guests included: Two-fifths of Clyde (Doug and Josh), Leta, Nancy and Roy from the Tuesday Uke Group (performing with me as the Cool Hand Ukes), and finally, performing a capella, Mila. Tom's Tabooley reminds me a little of NeWorlDeli, which is just up the street. It's a decent stage and sound system, but they only allow two songs per performer.
I played "Don't Dallas My Austin" and "Hot Pepper Tamale." Heard a few really good songs tonight, including one about a miner accident in West Virginia and another one called "This is a Stick-Up." Had a great time at Poodie's Hilltop Roadhouse tonight. Thanks to David Patrick Dunn for sharing this pic with me.
