Managed to squeeze in a few hours Saturday in Waco to rehearse with David and Richard. Shown above in "parade rest" formation, each with his favorite instrument: David and his baritone ukulele, me and my 12-string, and Richard and his mandolin. I brought one new song to the get-together; David brought one finished song and one work-in-progress. We hope to have viable recordings of all of them soon.

Select members of the Austin Ukulele Society performed a benefit concert at the Civic Center at Lakeway tonight. It was part of the community's annual “Made in America” event, which raises money for several charitable efforts. The 14 of us (13 ukes and one upright bass) played for approximately 250 Lakeway residents. Everyone seemed to like our show, and afterward the event organizers treated us to a wonderful barbecue dinner.
Enjoyed working with Richard yesterday in his home studio in Waco. Trying to create a better version of "All Hat and No Cattle." In two weeks, David will go to Waco to add his tracks. Fingers crossed for good final results.
Nolan's Bar is currently my favorite open mic in town, and it's rating with me only went up last night.
Every time I've played there, the audience has liked my stuff, and several folks have come up to me afterward to compliment me, too. Last night, the host kept telling me to play more, and the crowd loved it. I played five original songs and two David Harbaugh songs. I think everybody there had a good time, self included. |
