Kaye and I played our first two-fer at Watercrest today; Paul couldn't make it due to a solo gig in Georgetown. We played in Building 5 for an early show, then we had a one-hour break during which we moved everything over to the main room for our regular 5 PM "happy hour" show. Both sets went remarkably well.

Great show at Rattle Inn tonight. I think there were 16 acts in all, and not a bad moment in the evening. The crowd really got into my new song, "Rock-a-Bye Baby Blues," and in honor of the visiting dignitary (David Harbaugh), I closed with a classic, "Don't Dallas My Austin."
Last night was my first trip to this weekly event on a stage in someone's backyard in Spicewood, Texas. Long drive there and back (especially coming back!), but it was a lot of fun. Next time, I need to have more cover tunes ready to jam with the boys.
The Kaye Pasa Trio played at Stomping Ground's open mic tonight, essentially auditioning for the manager, Wes. He liked us, and we should be seeing paying gigs there soon.
Played at The Villa in Cypress, Texas, for Cousins Weekend 8. Notice my left ankle is still in a brace.
Came home Sunday, and arrived just ahead of Richard Leslie visiting from Waco. He was my special guest performer at tonight's open mic at B.B. Rovers. He, Danny Fast Fingers, and I had a nice pickin' party at the house afterward. The Kaye Pasa Trio (KPT) played its monthly gig in Leander on Friday. Due to my sprained ankle, I had to sit while playing, which I hate doing.
On the way out of The Legacy, I wondered if I was babying it too much, and then I made a slightly wrong turn on my left foot, and my ankle promptly informed me that it still needed some babying. That evening, the KPT went to Buda Treehouse Studio for a special songwriters' song swap. I sat all evening. Spent Saturday trying to do as little as possible and keep the leg elevated as much as possible. Boring. Tonight, the KPT played at Twin Creek's open mic, but I decided to stand up since it was only a few songs. The crowd liked what we were doing, and we ended up playing a mini-set of nine songs. My damn ankle ached a little afterward, and I kept it elevated using my guitar case on its side as a make-shift ottoman. Can't believe this is only Day Four of a six- to eight-week recovery. Best Father's Day present yet! My wonderful son Will bought us tickets to this event with one of our favorite authors, and we had a lot of fun.
The only downside to the evening was my ankle, which is in a brace due to a high ankle sprain. I was actually limping around on a cane that night, and I don't imagine that sitting in that seat for so long without the leg elevated did it any good either, but I didn't really care because Mr. Gaiman was that interesting. Started July by playing The Hole in the Wall with Kaye tonight. With few UT students around for the summer, the "crowd" was pretty small (so were the tips!), but we had a few in there who really seemed to like our stuff. For the rest of the summer, this will be a regular every other Saturday gig; however, I'll have to miss the middle Saturday this month due to a scheduling conflict.
