I don't always play my 12-string guitar. For instance, last night I performed at a uke-only open mic at the Rattle Inn downtown. Several of my fellow Austin Ukulele Society pals were there, including Bob Guz, Jen Richardson, Mardi Wareham, Ray Carr, and the fabulously talented wife and husband duo, Kathy Murray and Bill Jones.
Although I'd practiced several cover tunes at home, I decided at the last moment to do a couple of original songs: Hot Pepper Tamale and All Hat and No Cattle. It was the first time for me to perform these songs in public on my cuatro (a Venezuelan uke).
