Despite missing not one, but two rehearsals, I performed with the Austin Ukulele Society Ensemble at Buckner Villa tonight. I always enjoy playing with my fellow four-stringers; it's a nice break from the 12-string. Much lighter, too.

In other May news, Kaye and I represented the trio (hey, at least we had a quorum) at The Watercrest in Bryan on May 25. The full trio performed in Round Rock on the 26th at Craft & Racked Wine Bar; however, we kinda screwed up. We confused the time with a different gig, and accidentally quit an hour early. Fortunately, we were able to soothe the ruffled feathers later with the help of our good friend, Debbie Panichi.
To wrap up the month on a non-music note, I spent two hours waiting at a Torchy's Tacos to get the chance to spend about one hour with Will and Kati (along with her grandmother Merna) as they passed through Austin en route to San Antonio to see Kati's mom, and then on to Corpus for a wedding. Busy day today. We played in a very hot and windy spot downtown Austin as part of the city's "Public Performance Pilot Program," sponsored by Next Generation Workplace at noon. A few hours later, we played a few songs at Hilary Haney's birthday party in Round Rock. We had to leave the party early to make it to Taylor, Texas, in time for our late night gig at Taylor Station.
The Kaye Pasa Trio celebrated Kaye's birthday on the new outdoor stage at Twin Creeks Icehouse last night. Great stage, great crowd, great fun. Even the weather cooperated with a nice breeze to keep us all cool.
I played three venues in three cities today. I played solo at Dino's open mic at C&R Wine Bar in Round Rock in the afternoon, at Rumi's Tavern (with the Kaye Pasa Trio) in the evening, and at Twin Creek's open mic with Paul Teneyuque later this night. Whew!
The Kaye Pasa Trio (plus Jay Dee Hicks and Josh Ribakove) were one of many acts celebrating the new outdoor stage at Twin Creeks Icehouse. It was perfect weather for it, too. The line-up:
Holden Liseng Paul Logan Ella Reid Irish Dancers Allan "Bones" Davis Lynette Wolfe & Some Hustlers Kaye Pasa Trio Clyde Chris & Colin and the All-Star Jam A young lady ran a stop sign today, and I got to see all my airbags. Terrible way for both of us to start the week.
Kaye Pasa Trio played at Sulpt Fest in Round Rock, Texas. Despite the lack of shade, it was a good gig. We were lucky to get a nice breeze that kept us reasonably cool.
Josh and Margaret's Ice Cream Social was a fantastic example of what I love about this tribe of musicians I am fortunate enough to call my friends. It was a perfect day for it, too.
The line-up of entertainers: Alan "Bones" Davis Doug Marshall Nancy Scott Laura Freeman Jennifer B Clyde Gal Dangit! Paper Moonshiners Aegean Kaye Pasa Trio Lynette Wolfe & Some Hustlers Susan Maxey & Mark Viator Last night's show at the German Restaurant in Walburg was one of our best ever! Amazingly, we managed to capture most of it on video, thanks to our good friend Mike Garcia and his trio of cameras. That's good timing!
Paul and Mike spent a long day editing the raw footage into something presentable. Once we have individual songs ready to post online, we will. Our Walburg audience wanted more. In fact, they extended our set with not one, but two encores: a first for our little group. |
