Paul and I (a.k.a. "John y Pablo") performed at Lynette Wolf's open mic at the Lucky Lounge last night. Technically, we didn't play until early this morning. Despite getting there a half-hour before the start of the show, we were numbers 18 and 19 on the list and didn't get to take the stage until after midnight.
Our good friend Danny Fast Fingers said he got there less than 15 minutes before us, and he was the number one slot. Trooper that he is, he stayed the whole night to hear us play. Big thank you to DFF.
Jorge and Carlos (a.k.a., "The Cubans") got the number 17 slot, and Paul played bass for them. Next, I played my cuatro to back up Paul on guitar for his songs, and Paul went back to his bass to back up me on my 12-string for my songs.
We had a lot of fun, but truthfully, it was a long time to wait to play two songs each. Next time I go to this Wednesday open mic, I'll try to get there on Tuesday to get a better spot on the list.
