My original plan to stay home and practice my bump-on-a-log impersonation changed when I heard Dodge the Bullet was playing at the One-2-One Club. This is one of my favorite venues in town because it truly focuses on LIVE MUSIC.
DTB was great, and after the show I decided I wanted to play some tonight, too. I mentioned the open mic at The Water Tank, and Lynette and David G. (Lynette & Lefty) decided they'd come, too.
Even before all of this fun, it was a pretty good day. I started work on a new song inspired by Lynette called "The Girl with the Upright Bass." I also worked up a fairly rollicking version of an old standard, "Frankie and Johnnie."
