Last night's show at "da Creek" was one of our best ever. The weather cooperated, which hopefully will be a new trend for the new year, and the crowd was great. Special thanks to Cyndi Samford for the "crystal ball" photo, above.

2018 is off to a good start with three big January shows for the Kaye Pasa Trio, including two new venues: Marshall's Tavern on Jan. 12 and Black Sparrow Music Parlor (Taylor, TX) on Jan. 20. We'll kick off the year with a return engagement at Twin Creeks Icehouse on Jan. 6.
December was a rather slow month for the Kaye Pasa Trio, and we're all looking forward to (hopefully) a much better and busier year in 2018.
Despite rain (all damn day), we managed to pull a couple of dozen friends and fans at our final 2017 gig at Twin Creeks Icehouse. Thanks to everyone who braved the wet weather.
The Austin Ukulele Society Ensemble performed at City Hall this evening. In Austin (a.k.a. "The Live Music Capital of the World"), the city council invites one group to perform one song during a break in the city council meeting. The mayor also proclaimed it Austin Ukulele Society Day.
Afterward, a few of us went out for a drink and were treated to the rare sight of snow falling in Austin. It was beautiful. By the time I got home, most of the city received a light dusting, including the Buick on my driveway and a little snow in my backyard. The Watercrest at Bryan suffered water damage in its main dining room after a pipe burst in the ceiling. Judy called me to cancel this month's show, but said they should have the problem fixed in a couple weeks.
What a great night at Twin Creeks! Kaye Pasa Trio played two hour-long sets to a wonderful crowd.
If you look closely in the top photo, you can see all my little soldiers surrounding me. I'm playing my 12er, my cuatro is hanging on the mic stand in front of me, and the neck of my brand new tenor uke is angling up and left of the cuatro. My six-string guitar is resting on a stand between Kaye and me, and the face of my banjo is visible behind Kaye's feet. Finally made it to Alan "Bones" Davis' annual pig roast. Kaye Pasa Trio opened the evening, AND this marks the first time I ever played a banjo in public. It's almost the first time I ever played a banjo period; I only started playing it along with a recording of Kaye's "Build a Road" three days ago, and here I am playing it in front of an audience. Great fun.
Three grueling hours of playing well, sounding good, but being unable to connect with the crowd because they all sat at the bar with their backs to the stage. Very frustrating.
I played "She Won't Rock My Wagon Wheel Anymore" for the 150 or so uke fans, and they loved it. Must try to get this one added into the KPT songbook.
