Each invited songwriter got three songs. I played "Don't Dallas My Austin," "Eulogy," and "Hot Pepper Tamale." Also sold a CD to a visiting couple from Illinois.
This was my second time to play at the Walburg Songwriter Wednesday, and I'm very pleased they asked me back. There was a much bigger crowd this time, which is always more fun, especially when you get a great crowd like this that actually listens to the music.

Open mic nights at Twin Creeks are always fun, especially when hosted by Clyde (or 4/5 of Clyde like last night.) No photographic evidence that I was there, but I played just before Kaye, shown above.
Paul and I went to Mozart's Coffee House on the lake last night to see and hear John Traphagan's group with its new name: the Botolph Jazz Trio. I assume the name change honors St. Botolph, the East Anglican patron saint of wayfarers, but it's a pretty obscure reference, right? Well, that's jazz for you.
Despite the two-song limit, last night's show at the Rattle Inn was one of my best open mic nights of the year! I had so much fun, as I usually do with my four-string friends of the Austin Ukulele Society.
Thanks to everybody who helped with the horns on "Hot Pepper Tamale." Special thanks to Bob and Jen for planning and hosting the event. |
